Q: How do I ensure that the childcare provided meets legal requirements?

A:

In Wales, the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales regulates the provision of childcare in Wales for children under the age of 8 as part of its responsibilities. It ensures that childcare provision meets the National Minimum Standards required by the Childminding and Daycare Regulations. Umbrella organisations may be able to help with registration process. The Welsh

Government has published a booklet entitled ‘Choosing Childcare’ to help parents make informed decisions when choosing childcare, which is available from Family Information Services or online from Welsh Government's website. Legal requirements regarding staffing, salaries and insurance should also be taken into account.
