Overview

Experience Science with this workshop full of fun activities on the theme of water. Find out how the science experiments in this workshop affect us in everyday life. A practical 2 hour workshop about science for those working with children and young people.

Aims

To introduce participants to Science with a hands on experiments like, cold as ice, floating fruit, water magnifier, luminous layers, still crazy, the dripping clock, the pressure's on and twisting turbines.

Participants will:

  • Understand how to plan and prepare for each experiment.
  • Understand how each experiment works and how this fits in with everyday life.
  • Describe the benefits that each experiment has on our World.

Subjects Covered

  • Cold as Ice - explains the freezing point of water
  • Floating fruit - find out how carbon dioxide affects our oceans
  • Water magnifier  - view of object through water
  • Luminous layers - the effects and weight of liquid
  • Still crazy - evaporation of water by the Sun
  • The dripping clock - how water was used to estimate time
  • The pressure's on - the effects of water pressure
  • Twisting turbines - how water turbines generate electricity
