AN Clwb Hwb Guest Speakers

In last week’s bulletin, we introduced Tracy Thornton, a guest speaker in our AN Clwb Hwb.

This week we are introducing our second speaker- Debbie Tingley.

Meet Debbie

“I have worked in Ty Gwyn Special School since 2003, starting in a class for children with autism and high challenging behaviour.  The school also has children with profound complex medical and physical needs, many with life limiting conditions.  In 2011 I came out of a classroom and started counselling parents/family members and joined the family services area of our school. My role has developed and grown, I now facilitate parenting groups around behaviour strategies and healthy eating cooking courses.

I set up my after-school club in 2010 , though it has been closed since Covid. This is predominantly down to funding.  I have been the play leader for our play scheme since 2010. It  runs during 4 school holidays for any child that attends our school. It is a very unique, bespoke scheme. We were inspected in July and were awarded excellent in every area.

My passion is for every child to have an opportunity to experience as much as they can regardless of barriers, to also ensure the families are able to do things with the siblings because their child accesses our schemes.  There is nothing in Cardiff for children with additional needs; knowing this is all they have makes it more important to for them and their families to keep running.”

These guest speakers have vast experience in the sector, don’t miss this opportunity to gain knowledge and ask any questions you have!
