Celebrate King Charles III Official birthday with scones
Did you know the British monarch gets to celebrate two birthdays? Lucky them! They have their real birthday and an official birthday. The tradition goes all the way back to 1748 during the reign of George II, whose birthday fell in winter. Because outdoor celebrations were much harder in the colder months, an official birthday was introduced in summer so the public could join in the festivities.
This year the official birthday was on Saturday 13th June 2026. It is celebrated by a procession known as Trooping the Colour.
