The standards outline the knowledge, skills and competencies needed by playworkers and help support the development of a skilled, confident workforce. 

Published on 5 October by Play Wales, the new standards are an important development for the playwork sector across the UK. They provide a framework for understanding what effective playwork practice looks like and can help inform professional development, training and qualifications. 

For Out of School childcare clubs, this is a useful opportunity to reflect on your team’s knowledge and skills and consider how you support children’s freely chosen play, independence and wellbeing.
