How much Welsh can your club use in one afternoon? 

For Diwrnod Shwmae Su’mae, challenge the children and staff to use as much Welsh as they can during the session. 

Create a Welsh Words Challenge Board with simple words and phrases such as: 

🗣️ Shwmae! – Hello! 

☀️ Bore da! – Good morning! 

👋 Hwyl! – Bye! 

🙏 Diolch! – Thank you! 

😊 Sut wyt ti? – How are you? 

👍 Da iawn! – Very good! 

🍎 Bwyd – Food 

💧 Dŵr – Water 

🎲 Gêm – Game 

❤️ Dw i’n hoffi… – I like… 

Every time someone uses one of the phrases, they can tick it off. 

Challenge: Can you get the whole board ticked off before home time? 

Make it inclusive: Don’t worry about getting the pronunciation perfect. The aim is to have a go, build confidence and show children that using Welsh can be fun and part of everyday club life.
