Are you passionate about children’s right to play? At Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs, our vision is a Wales where children play, and communities prosper. We are recruiting new Trustees, including a Chairperson, Treasurer, and HR Trustee, to join our Board. 

About Us 

We champion Out of School Childcare Clubs across Wales, supporting them to thrive and celebrating the impact they have on children’s experiences. Our staff and trustees provide quality support, training, and advocacy to ensure clubs have a strong foundation to deliver meaningful childcare and play opportunities. 

Chair of Trustees

The Chair leads the Board to govern effectively, support the Chief Executive Officer, and ensure Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs achieves its mission. They act as an ambassador for the charity, championing children’s right to play and the value of Out of School Childcare, while ensuring good governance and clear strategic direction. 

Treasurer

The Treasurer oversees the charity’s finances, ensuring legal and statutory compliance and sound financial governance. They maintain oversight of records, procedures, and internal controls, present financial reports to the Board, and support the organisation’s long-term financial sustainability. The Treasurer also identifies financial risks and advises the Board on appropriate actions. 

Human Resources Trustee

The HR Trustee ensures high standards of governance across HR policies and practices, including recruitment, retention, performance, reward, and staff/trustee development. They provide strategic oversight of workforce planning and wellbeing, assess risks and compliance with changing legal requirements, and advise the Board on resourcing and organisational development in line with the charity’s goals. 

What We’re Looking For 

We welcome applications from people with a passion for play and children’s wellbeing. We are particularly keen to broaden the diversity of our Board. 

Essential qualities of Trustees include (please see role description for essential qualities relating to each): 

  • Experience as a trustee  
  • Strong strategic and inclusive leadership skills. 
  • Ability to listen, communicate, and facilitate constructive debate. 
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. 
  • Willingness to advocate for our charity through networks and events. 

Key Commitments 

  • Voluntary role: reasonable expenses reimbursed. 
  • Approx. one to two days per month commitment. 
  • Five Board meetings annually (plus occasional extraordinary meetings). 
  • Regular contact with the Board of Trustees, Chief Executive and senior management team. 
  • Annual strategy session and occasional events. 
  • Meetings are mainly online, with some in-person sessions in Cardiff, Colwyn Bay, or Crosshands.
