Play Organiser – Cardiff

Hours: 22.5 hours per week – Wednesdays included, during term time and holidays, during the school day and after school
Salary: £25,183 – £27,269
Qualifications / experience required:
- An appropriate Playwork Qualification at Level 2/Level 3
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Significant proven experience of working with children in a playwork environment.
- Experience of working on an open access play provision
- Experience of working with disabled children and young people and /or challenging behaviour
- To have knowledge and working experience of play and playwork issues
- Experience of working outdoors with Children and young people in a play environment.
- Working within local communities to promote the value of play and the play setting.
- Working with other agencies in partnership to enhance the children’s play opportunities.
Description of duties: To assist in the delivery of open and closed access play provision across Cardiff, working with children 5-14 years of all abilities.
- To assist the Senior Play Organisers fully in the successful operation and development of quality play opportunities for children.
- To assist in the record keeping and participate in regular appraisal of schemes of work.
- To assist in ensuring that the play areas are kept clean and tidy and free of defective equipment and hazardous materials.
- To ensure that the play opportunities are of appropriate quality to be able to meet the play needs of all the children attending.
- To assist in taking positive action to ensure Disabled children are fully included in the play centre and the programme of activities.
- To be an advocate for children’s right to play under the United Nations Conventions Rights of the Child and work within the playwork principles.
- To liaise with the local community in order to promote the work of the service and to offer information, guidance and support to local initiatives.
- To assist in ensuring legislative requirements are met.
- To assist in implementing the Cardiff Play Sufficiency plan and Cardiff Play Strategy Key objectives
