Level 3 Playworker – Little Ferns Kids Club, Vale of Glamorgan

Hours: Monday – Friday during term times & holidays (after school hours)
Qualifications / experience required:
- A Level 3 qualification (or higher) in Childcare and/or Playwork is essential.
- Previous experience in a Playwork role is desirable.
- Welsh speaking is desirable but not essential.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is essential. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references prior to employment.

Description of Duties:We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Playworker to join our friendly team. This role involves providing a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment where children can learn, play and develop through a range of engaging activities.
About the Role: As a Playworker, you will support children aged 5–11 years (and 3–12 years during holiday club) by creating positive play experiences and ensuring their wellbeing and safety at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide warm, child-centred care and engaging play opportunities for children.
- Welcome and register children, ensuring safe and smooth arrivals and departures.
- Plan, organise and lead a variety of play activities that encourage creativity, social interaction, physical activity and independence.
- Respond to children’s individual needs, interests and wellbeing, offering comfort and reassurance where needed.
- Encourage positive behaviour, friendships and confident communication.
- Support inclusive practice, meeting the diverse needs of children including those with ALN, disabilities, or medical and cultural requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe and stimulating play environment, both indoors and outdoors, including completing risk assessments and daily safety checks.
- Support children with personal care, first aid, hygiene and general wellbeing when required.
- Build positive relationships with families, communicating professionally and sensitively.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and students, contributing to a positive team environment.
- Follow all safeguarding, health and safety and organisational policies and procedures.
- Assist with daily operational tasks, including snack preparation, cleaning and maintaining play resources.
