DARPL Enhanced Leadership Series

The Enhanced Leadership Series aims are to provide the CPEY cohort of leaders and practitioners with the opportunity to:

  • Recognise the value and importance of anti-racist professional learning as a continuum across early years, childcare and playwork.
  • Enable an appreciation of new ways of working for sustainable active critical change through anti-racist professional leadership.
  • Share peer to peer experiences through dialogue for community of practice development.
  • Enable leaders to develop/contribute to strategic plans aligned with Prof. Charlotte Williams’ Report Recommendations and Welsh Government Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan (ARWAP).
  • Use and co-construct tools and resources to critically appraise and inform their own organisational culture.
  • Explore and develop racial literacy.
  • DARPL ELS Professional Learning Outcomes.

 

On successful completion of the DARPL Enhanced Leadership Series, the CPEY cohort will be equipped to:

  • Recognise anti-racist leadership and professional practice.
  • Raise awareness through extended authentic self-reflection including explorations of whiteness, power dynamics in leadership and professional practice.
  • Define (within their own professional context) key practices of anti-racist leadership and race equity.
  • Lead / engender safe and brave spaces within their organisations/professional practice through policy and practice reform.
  • Create materials, policy, and resources to support anti-racist professional practice and wellbeing.
  • Implement professional learning through in the context of their own work.
  • Investigate the challenges / barriers that exist for leaders when shifting from generic inclusive practice to anti-racist whole organisational culture.
  • Develop critical thinking on race equity in practice.

 

Dates and times of sessions

There are five sessions in this series (three in person and two on-line) from February – April 2025*. Participants need to commit to attending the whole series.

  • February 6 – Face to Face session – Time TBC 9.00-3.30
  • February 18 – Online (morning) 9.30-12.00
  • March 6 – Face to Face session – Time TBC 9.00-3.30
  • March 19 – Online (afternoon) – 12.00-14.30
  • April 02 – Face to Face session – Time TBC
