Expression of Interest for Preschool / Out of School Provision within Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council has commissioned Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs to explore reopening the Flying Start preschool in Bedlinog. This work focuses on assessing feasibility, identifying childcare needs, exploring suitable venues, and working with the community to develop a sustainable, high-quality childcare provision.

Expression of Interest

The opportunity has arisen for a new provider to re-establish a Flying Start childcare provision within the community of Bedlinog Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, as well as providing a service to children attending Bedlinog Primary School.

Expressions of Interest are invited from both voluntary committees and private providers, with shortlisted applicants potentially invited to interview.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from existing or new providers with suitable knowledge, experience and understanding of the local community as well as understanding of the childcare sector. Expressions of Interest are welcomed from all robustly governed management types. Please can Expressions of Interest be addressed to clared@clybiauplantcymru.org

When registering your interest, please briefly address the following (no more than 5 pages of A4):

  1. How would you ensure a caring, safe and stimulating play environment for children aged 2-3 as well as potentially across the wider age range?
  2. What experience do you have in registering with CIW and/or managing CIW registered childcare provision?  If you have not done this previously, what do you understand of the process?
  3. How will you ensure that the provision is financially sustainable?
  4. How would you establish what the demand is for the provision and how would you market the provision to ensure sustainability?
  5. What is your governance / legal business structure?
  6. How will you support staff and encourage their development?
  7. What is your approach and understanding of early years childcare provision and play, and how will you ensure children have a quality experience within the setting?
  8. How will you support positive working relationships with parents/carers?
  9. How will you ensure positive working relationships are maintained within the local community / schools?
  10. What is your understanding of the qualifications needed to run a childcare provision for children aged 2-3 and potentially older if there is demand for expansion of provision?

The closing date for registering your interest is Friday 7th August and shortlisted candidates may be requested to attend an interview.
